The Ecuadorian Ministry of Tourism, as part of its overall strategy and inspiration to promote Ecuador as a potential for tourism, will launch the communication and specialization campaign on June 11th, focused on international tourism business. This initiative will reach more than 10,000 specialized wholesalers and travel agents in North America, Europe, Asia and Latin America, in five different languages.

A world-class destination. The country has received 21 World Travel Awards nominations, which is the most important event recognizing tourism around the world. The most important nominations include: South America’s Leading Cultural Destination, South America’s Leading Culinary Destination and South America’s Leading Green Destination. This latter was already obtained in 2013.

Ecuador is the trending destination this year. During the first four months of 2014, Ecuador closed the period with a 17% increase in visitors, compared to the same period in 2013, welcoming 509,791 travellers. In April alone, Ecuador experienced an historic increase of 32%. In Ecuador, tourism revenue reaches almost $1.2 billion annually.

The range of tourism offerings in Ecuador provides all facilities to both the traveller and tourism operators. One of the main pillars to this end is connectivity. Thus, the new Mariscal Sucre International Airport, located in the parish of Tababela, offers important conditions for airline route planners to consider the country as a new touristic destination where they can operate or increase existing flights.

In Ecuador, tourism services have no boundaries. The Ministry of Tourism develops partnerships in order to provide exclusive benefits to foreigners. One of the latest developments, which will soon hit the market, is the Tourist Passport.

The French hotel chain Accor announced through a press release that it will invest approximately $100 million in the construction of ten new Ibis hotels in Ecuador.
