The Fam Trip focused on the Mexican strategic market is taking place between December the 8th and the 15th. It started on the 8th with a trip to the Amazon to then travel to the Cayambe volcano, in Pichincha. Later, the delegation will travel on La Libertad Train in northern Imbabura. The tour will end in the city Quito, Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The aim of the Fam trip is to the raise awareness the agents of the tourism industry of the Mexican market have about Ecuador as a destination. Mexico is a new market of strategic importance to Ecuadorian tourism. In 2014, it was placed at the tenth position of importance, above markets such as Italy, France, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
In the past four years, the number of arrivals of Mexican tourists to Ecuador has increased by 14.32% in annual average. The direct flight from Mexico to the country has contributed to the growth of arrivals from the Central American nation. Communication and promotional activations of Ecuador in that country started in 2011.
Important tour operators from three big Mexican cities are participating in the familiarization trip: Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara. The companies present are: Oporto, Megatravel, Corporate Travel Services, Petra, BM Tours, Travel Shop, La Tienda del Viaje and Quality.
