Santiago Peralta, founder of Pacari chocolates, an ecuadorian company that distributes the product nationally and internationally, said that american celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Michelle Obama have shown preference for Ecuador's chocolate.
"Oprah's team found out we had an extraordinary chocolate. So the team asked us for some and we sent them the chocolate.", said Peralta in CNN's program "Fuerza en Movimiento". Then he received a call from a friend that told him: "Hey, you are in Oprah". She had tried the lemongrass chocolate and said it was one of her favorite during one of her shows.
Peralta also highlighted that Michelle Obama, United States' first lady, had a similar reaction. "She had the opportunity to try it and she liked it", he assured. This recognition is important for Pacari and Ecuador's chocolate production.
Cacao bean is the first product that held the country's economy in the beginning of the 20th century and, currently, Ecuador is the seventh biggest Cacao export market, producing 60% of one of the most appreciated varieties: cacao fino de aroma. Among its stellar qualities are the aroma and delicacy. Thus, the best brands of chocolate in the world use Ecuadorian Cacao. And it is this variety that Pacari uses in its chocolate.
